When the slaver-lords of Khanvalar summoned the dreaded Sâvarkar to guard their borders against the barbarian tribes of the plains, they failed to glimpse the abyssal power lurking behind their own dark design. Awakened to the depth of their might, the Sâvarkar turned upon their masters and seized the City of Shimmering Spires, drowning it beneath the shroud of eternal night. From the ranks of their kin, they crowned their greatest rider as the Shadowed King, and the once-bright plains of Sawar were swallowed by a churning mire of gloom and despair, where no sun rises and no hope endures.
