Death has sought Leopold since the destruction of Namneri’s Chalice. Having perished in the fighting in Sundestra in the aftermath of Hendrak’s ascension, Leopold found himself very much alive, five days after he had been torn to shreds by a plague beast. Driven by his patron’s will, he was led to find remnants of Namneri’s shattered Chalice, yet half a dozen more times he was slain in his quest, awaking again and again. He knows the success of his quest likely means his true, final death, yet he is beginning to welcome it if only to ward off the pain he endures with each death.
